Small studio. High standards.
We have been working this way since 2012. No interest in becoming a large agency. Plenty of interest in doing the work at a level we can stand behind.
empireofdesign started as a single-person practice doing identity work for local businesses in Petaluma. Over 12 years it grew slowly and deliberately into a studio with a clear point of view and a consistent way of working.
We have never chased scale. The portfolio we are most proud of came from projects where we had direct involvement at every stage, not from managing subcontractors and reviewing outputs at a distance. That preference has shaped every decision about how the studio operates.
We work nationally. About 65 percent of our clients are outside California. All collaboration happens over video and shared design tools. The physical location matters less than it used to, but Petaluma remains where the studio is based and where the thinking happens.
